Dear PCCH Parents/Guardians,
The uncertainty and ever-changing landscape of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) has required our team to take additional steps toward protecting our children, staff, families and the future of our school itself. We continue to follow the recommendations of government agencies and are constantly analyzing the situation at hand in an effort to determine the best and safest practices for our school community. In the upcoming academic year, it is possible that, due to COVID-19, government guidance will again require us to cease in-person education for some period of time.
We have taken a number of steps to prepare our PCCH Preschool for the academic year in context of the continuing COVID-19 pandemic and CDC and other government agency recommendations. In order to maintain the enrollment at a level consistent with current government guidance, and to best ensure the safety of our students, we reduced student enrollment by 20 percent and informed our wait-listed families that we would not be able to meet their needs this year. We decided, however, to maintain the full faculty, to ensure that our students get the best educational experience, whether it is in-person or on-line. PCCH is not state or federally funded and does not receive any grants. We rely solely on the monthly tuition which we receive from our families, and nearly all of our tuition income pays our faculty their modest salaries. While many other schools in the area have decided to raise tuition to cover this loss of income, we have chosen to not do so.
With that in mind, we have determined that, in the event that in-person education cannot occur due to COVID-19, we will not issue tuition refunds and we will continue collecting tuition. Auxiliary program billing will be suspended for the duration of the closure. If due to COVID-19, government guidance requires us to pause in-person education for more than 72 hours, we will pivot to an e-learning platform for the days that your child is enrolled. If it appears that preschools will be learning remotely for more than 6 weeks, we will close the school and stop collecting tuition. We assure you that our faculty is already planning ahead and pooling our considerable training, education and talents to make the e-learning experience as meaningful as possible. Your child will be engaged in a developmentally appropriate amount of screen time.
There will be parent intake conferences in late August where you will share important information about your child with our teachers and review and sign all required student paperwork. We will also outline our COVID-19 health and safety protocols. You will be required to sign a copy of the tuition refund policy at the August conference. If you wish to withdraw your child from school because you are unable to sign off on this tuition refund policy, please email Carla ASAP at [email protected].
Thank you very much for your continued support and understanding through these peaks and valleys. We are grateful to be able to have such a beautiful community to serve.
Sincerely, The PCCH Preschool Leadership Team
