Their classroom provides a nurturing and stimulating environment where toddlers engage in activities that support social, emotional, and cognitive development. The program includes play-based learning, sensory activities, music, storytelling, and art projects. The focus is on building language skills, fostering independence, and encouraging exploration in a safe and supportive setting. Activities are structured yet flexible to cater to the developmental needs of each child.

2-day Caterpillars

The 2-day Caterpillar classroom is for two-year-olds who attend school on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9:00-11:30. This class provides a fun, nurturing space for toddlers to explore, socialize, and develop basic skills through guided play. Activities include sensory play, music, art projects, and lessons that promote early language development, motor skills, and emotional growth. This classroom encourages creativity, independence, and positive social interactions in a safe, supportive environment.

3-day Caterpillars

Our 3-day Caterpillar class is for children who are two-years-old or who will be turning three in the fall. The class meets on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9AM-noon. This class offers a playful yet structured environment that focuses on early language, motor, and social skills. Children engage in hands-on activities, songs, stories, and simple problem-solving tasks that encourage creativity and cooperation. The program helps build independence, emotional regulation, and foundational academic skills, preparing children for a smooth transition into more advanced learning.

Dragonflies and Ladybugs

Our Dragonfly and Ladybug classrooms each enroll up to ten three-year-olds. They meet daily from 9AM to noon. These rooms provide a balanced mix of structured activities and free play, focusing on developing language, motor skills, and social interactions. Children engage in arts and crafts, story time, songs, and cooperative games that encourage creativity, problem-solving, and emotional expression. These classrooms emphasize building routines, fostering independence, and promoting positive peer relationships in a safe, supportive environment.

Fireflies

The Fireflies arrive in September as older three-year-olds and younger four-year-olds. Their teachers focus on enhancing early literacy, math, and social skills through engaging, hands-on activities. Children participate in circle time, guided play, arts and crafts, and problem-solving exercises that encourage creativity, teamwork, and critical thinking. The classroom supports the development of independence, self-regulation, and communication, preparing children for future academic and social success in a structured yet playful environment. Some children from this classroom will head to kindergarten and some will continue on to our Beetles or Butterflies classrooms.

Beetles and Butterflies

The Beetle and Butterfly classes are four- and five-year-old pre-k children who will graduate and head to kindergarten the following year. The teachers prepare the children for kindergarten by focusing on early literacy, math, and social-emotional skills. Activities include structured lessons, hands-on projects, group discussions, and independent work that promotes problem-solving, critical thinking, and collaboration. The environment is colorful, safe, and designed to foster curiosity and independence. A typical schedule includes circle time for group discussions, story time, creative play, hands-on learning centers (like blocks, art, and sensory activities), and outdoor play. The classrooms emphasize building confidence, fine and gross motor skills, and fostering positive relationships, helping children develop the academic and social foundations needed for a successful transition to elementary school.

As parents, we are incredibly grateful for our child’s preschool experience at PCCH. The staff’s dedication and creativity foster an environment where learning is fun, engaging, and nurturing. We’re so happy to see our child thrive under their guidance.
